It's a busy time of year in the English Faculty with all students working on upcoming assessments. For parents, it is helpful to know what tasks are coming up and when they are due:

Students are to deliver a 3 minute oral and digital presentation on a self-selected topic which relates to the concepts studied in the unit. |

Journey to the New World/Life Stories |
Part A: Creative Composition Students are to compose a journal entry or a series of entries from the perspective of a person who has left their home to go onto a journey into a new world. Part B: Multimodal Presentation Create and present a 3 minute multimodal presentation which includes a dramatic reading of an extract of the creative composition. |

Through Different Lenses |
Compose a poem inspired by a self-selected image and deliver a 3 minute presentation to the class discussing the image, reading the poem and identifying the language devices used. |

In Week 6, all Preliminary Advanced and Standard students participated in a website-building workshop facilitated by Mr Holliday. This workshop aimed to prepare them for their upcoming assessment and develop their skills in delivering multimodal presentations.
Year 9 Creative Writing
9E1 have been developing their creative writing skills out in the sunshine. During Week 7 all students were given an individual image to use as stimulus for developing short evocative poems. We look forward to publishing some of their amazing work in the next edition.
Year 8 Picture Book Designs
8E1 have been applying their high order thinking skills and creativity by redesigning the front cover of the picture book, "Ziba Came on a Boat".
During the term, students have been studying a variety of journeys into a new world.
Students produced some fantastic alternative covers that brought new ideas to the text.
Students were also able to cleverly justify why they chose to redesign certain elements.

Student Reminders
All students must come equipped to class every lesson. All students must have a book, blue/black pen, red pen and ruler for this subject area.
All students were issued a Film Note in Week 1 and these are now overdue for return. If you have not yet submitted your note and need a new one, please see your teacher ASAP.
