Student opportunities and activities
At Irrawang High School, we offer a variety of programs both in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends, and explore new interests.
Our programs include:
- School Sport and Competitions – including athletics and inter-school events that promote teamwork, fitness, and school spirit.
- Creative and Performing Arts – opportunities to participate in music, drama, dance, and visual arts groups and showcases.
- Cultural and Language Activities – celebrating diversity and developing intercultural understanding through engaging experiences.

Extra-curricular highlights
Debating and Public Speaking
Our debating and public speaking programs help students build confidence, think critically and communicate effectively. They also have opportunities to represent the school and compete in local and state-level competitions.
Creative and Performing Arts Program
Our dynamic Drama, Music, Dance and Visual Arts programs inspire creativity, confidence and self-expression. Students have the opportunity to showcase their talents through concerts, art exhibitions, performances and a variety of creative projects throughout the year.
Trips and Excursions
Our students love learning beyond the classroom through a range of excursions, camps and field trips. These hands-on experiences help them explore new environments, build confidence and connect their classroom learning to the real world.
Maths Growth in Action
We are very fortunate to have Mr Ben McCartney from the Teacher Growth Team at our school this year. The Teacher Growth team is part of the NSW Department of Education and focuses on supporting teacher professional development, improvement, and growth across the state. The team provides resources, guidance, and programs to help teachers continually reflect on and improve their teaching practice.
