COVID Restrictions to be extended
Dear Parents and Carers
This morning we received an update on the current arrangements in relation to COVID-19. Irrawang High School will continue to operate on Level 2 restrictions until at least 30 July.
Given the COVID Safe guidelines listed below, the following school events will have alternate arrangements to adhere with COVID-safe practices.
- Parent/Carers Teacher night will not occur on school premises as planned next week. The school will conduct phone interviews with parents/carers. Details in regards to the organisation of parent/carers teacher phone interviews will be published tomorrow.
- Showcase has been postponed pending COVID safe guidelines restriction dates and a final decision will be made in the coming weeks.
- Education week events will now occur within the school with no visitors or parents allowed on-site.
We will communicate specifically about the arrangements for each of these events as soon as we are able.
The following are the NSW DEC COVID Safe guidelines approved by NSW Health for Irrawang High School operating on Level 2 restrictions.
- Students and staff to not attend school if they have symptoms; negative COVID-19 test required prior to returning to school
- QR code check-in and check-out required for all staff and visitors
- Additional cleaning measures in place
- Non-essential visitors not allowed on-site (including parents and carers)
- Activities such as singing, chanting, choirs, bands and school performances allowed in outdoor settings only
- Assemblies must have COVID-Safe practices in place and no parents/carers are allowed
- Excursions within Local Government Area only, and strongly recommended to be outdoors and within walking distance
Guidance on mask wearing
Mask wearing recommendations - while in indoor settings in schools, masks or face coverings are recommended for all staff, and all students in Year 7 and above.
Masks are mandatory on public transport. This applies to students aged 13 years and over, and staff when travelling to and from school and during school excursions by public transport or by chartered or private transport services.
I would once again like to reiterate my appreciation of everything you are doing as a parent as we continue to navigate the challenges of living with COVID-19.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on 4987 4687 if you would like to discuss any concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Baxter
Principal, Irrawang High School
