Student Support Officer

Irrawang High School is fortunate to have Hayden Moore employed as a fulltime Student Support Officer (SSO). Hayden comes to Irrawang with over a decade of experience working with youth and related community services. Within the role of SSO, his main priority is the students. To promote their health and wellbeing and to undertake the position of advocate, listener, and mentor. Hayden also works collaboratively to support students and their families through their time at high school by:-

  • working with individual and small groups of students to develop effective coping skills and positive relationships at school and at home
  • providing advice and information on broad issues affecting young people (mental health, peer relationships, self-harm, sexual health, bullying, social media etc.)
  • developing and implementing wellbeing initiatives, activities, and group programs
  • being actively involved in school community activities to promote positive relationships with staff and students
  • encouraging and assisting in the transition processes for students from primary to high school to leaving school
  • connecting students and families to outside organizations and community activities
  • promoting and educating students about health and wellbeing.
